Country Road Trip

By default English countryside is always a cure for a weary soul. Here's a throw back post to when we were in need of a breather from the city grind. This is by far our longest road trip to date.

Bath is our happy place hands down. But for this occasion we decided to venture out a BIT. The Cotswold is just a place lost in time. It makes every Anglophile heart sing. From its thatched roof, gorgeous garden to cobbled streets it is enough to calm a mind on overdrive.

First Stop: Arlington Row

This place in Bibury is one of the most picturesque places I've ever been too. It was teeming with tourist when we went though, so taking a photo is quite hard. It was drizzling on the day as well but thank goodness it was not freezing. These cottages are what my dreams are made of. These English cottages are oozing with charm.

Second Stop: Cardiff

Since we were an hour away to Wales we decided to have a quick visit to Cardiff. As it was such a quick visit we only get to see the city centre. It was recommended by two friends who went there for university. Anyway, it was fun albeit a cold day when we went exploring. The architecture was lovely. Hopefully next time we get to stay longer and explore more.

Third Stop: Bristol

This is where we based while we went around the neighbouring places. Having been voted as one of the best places to live in Britain it's no wonder crowds were drawn to this city. With graffiti art splattered across town it's creating a hip and trendy vibe.

Fourth Stop: Castle Coombe

It true what they say, at a glance this place is just forgotten in time. It's so easy to get lost and transport yourself back to time where carriages and horses rule the road. All the books I've read growing up seem to be describing this place. It must be amazing living in a preserved place. For me, it is one of the best gems in Cotswold.

Fifth Stop: Lacock

Another crowd pleaser albeit with this one, a certain Harry Potter connection added to its charming appeal. Just like the others it has a little village feel to it but with modernity behind closed doors. It is very laid back and pretty. My only regret was we didn't get to go inside the Abbey, as LO was having a meltdown when it was time.

Last Stop: Bath

And then we're back. I should stop raving about this place for I have dedicated a whole post a few years back about this place. Yet, here I am gushing about this jewel of a place over and over again. Nonetheless, this time when I came back to my favourite place, I had to introduce Olivia to Mr B's Emporium of Reading Delight. And true to form I came home with another stash. Bath will always be our happy place. This is our nth time coming back and I'm sure it wont be the last.
